Workers on the Lookout for a New Job

U.S. workers are beginning to think about changing jobs—particularly Generation Y workers, according to a survey released by Adecco Group North America.

The survey found that 30 percent of Gen Y workers plan to seek a new job in 2010, compared with 14 percent at the end of 2008.

In addition, it found that 51 percent of Gen Y workers plan to go on a job interview or have already done so. Workers in other age groups also have plans for job interviews, including 30 percent of Generation X workers, 29 percent of baby boomers and 22 percent of workers 61 and older.

Despite the job-hunting plans, the survey found that 86 percent of U.S. workers feel the economy is still in a recession, and 78 percent said they believe this is the worst job market they have ever seen in their careers.

The survey took place online from March 26 to March 30 among 2,222 adults 18 and older, of whom 1,149 were employed.
